23rd July 2008 – 40 degrees, a mile long circuit and the best drivers in the world...
In what must be described as one of the hardest race meetings so far the 3rd round of the WSK championship in Sarno had everything. With average temperatures of nearly 40 degrees the Sarno circuit is just over a mile long and nestles in the foothills below Mount Vesuvius. It is an extremely challenging track with over 15 bends and average lap times in excess of one minute.
The whole field was simply a class act with a star studded line up of the very best KZ1 drivers in the world, Ardigo, Thonon, Fore, Manetti to mention just a few, this was always going to be tough!
After a challenging few days of finding the right kart set-up Jack was very quick in the final posting a lap time just 2 tenths slower than race winner Marco Ardigo, Jack finished 11th overall in the final and well ahead his regular KZ2 competitors. Click here to read full race report.
3rd July 2008 - Hawksworth “We must be on the podium in Sarno”
British karting star Jack Hawksworth says he is confident of a podium placing at the forthcoming WSK round in Sarno. The English pilot who suffered a massive disappointment in the European Championship last weekend when he was deliberately taken out of the race by the Energy racing team when he was in the hunt for victory, is aiming to bounce back with a best performance yet at Sarno in under 3 weeks.
Jack had a troubled last round at the WSK after qualifying problems meant he would start on grid 30 for race 1. He showed his pace in the final though when he charged through to 12th taking the 6th quickest lap of the race in the process on a circuit he had never seen before.
“Last weekend was really disappointing. We were quick all weekend on a track that didn’t really suit the chassis but despite this I still believe we had the pace to take the win in both Race 1 and Race 2 as the heat results showed. Unfortunately things happened out of our control and now we must focus on delivering a strong result in Sarno. There is no reason why this can’t be possible. The chassis has been good on the Vega white tires (the tires used for the WSK) and we recently won the third round of the German championship on these tires against strong opposition like Dreezen and Lammers.
I will also have the advantage of testing at the circuit before the event which should help me learn the circuit and nail the set-up before arrival at the event. I will concentrate on my fitness over the next few weeks to make sure I am fit enough to handle the high temperatures which will be assured in Italy. Taking this all in to account I will be right at the sharp end. Obviously it will be impossible in normal circumstances to beat Thonon and Ardigo because at the minute they are too strong but I think I can certainly come away with the 3rd position and who knows, impossible is nothing so we will just have to push hard and hopefully reap the rewards!”
Jack is back in action next week testing at Lonato and Sarno in preparation for the WSK.
15th June 2008 - Jacks scores an awesome double victory in the German KZ2 championship
This was Jacks first visit to the race track in Ampfing. Friday testing went well followed by a strong qualifying session in which he qualified 5th overall, just 3 tenths of Rick Dreezen and only a tenth of the 2nd place man. This meant he would start his two heats on the second row, a third position was hard won in the first heat after being pushed on at one of the hairpins and then a good solid 2nd in his last heat meant he would line up 4th for the finals.
In the sprint race or first final Jack got away really well and managed to take victory from Rick Dreezen by just a few tenths.
In the second final it was very much the same story with Bas Lammers in close attendance in 3rd, and after a hard fought 25 lap race Jack emerged the victor. A great win and a credit to Jack, the PDB team , AFR engines and Ian who has been Jacks mechanic for the weekend.
11th June 2008 – Belgium last weekend and Germany the next!
Jack will be travelling to Germany this weekend to compete in the 3rd round of the German KZ2 championship once again with the PDB racing team.
Competition will be tough as always as the German championship fields one of the strongest shifter kart entries in Europe.
The race meeting is held at Ampfing which is another new track for Jack, hopefully the weather will be more settled than last weekend and the work we have been putting in recently with the chassis and engines will pay dividends with a good result.
18th April 2008 - Hawksworth eyes step forward in Angerville
Jack Hawksworth believes that he and the PDB Racing team will take a big step forward at first round of the KZ2 European Championships in 2 weeks time.
After a successful start to the season Hawksworth has established himself as front runner but he now believes he can realistically challenge for the podium and even victory. Hawksworth believes the first round of the KZ2 Euros will be his best chance yet to challenge for victory. Hawksworth grabbed a 7th and 11th at the first round of the WSK but believes that the kart will be much better at the first round of the European Championship.
“Progress has been made and we now find ourselves much closer to the pace. We have a few issues on the engine side to sort out but hopefully we will have solved these before the European Champs. If we can do this then I am confident that we can really go for the win this time. For sure we have been on the edge of the top 4 or 5 for a while now but I believe we are now ready to take that step forward and challenging the top guys, in Angerville we will be shaking things up! For sure there is going to be some tough competition. Joey Hanssen and the AVG Racing team are for sure looking very strong at the moment and will be confident at this circuit. The good thing for me and the team is that we know that we can beat them and with the improvements coming before Angerville I think we can hold our heads high and say the win is there for us to take. We can win this race”

8th April 2008 - Hawksworth to race in Germany this weekend
PDB Racing driver Jack Hawksworth announced today that he will race in the first round of the German KZ1 championship this weekend at Kerpen.
After making a more than impressive debut against the world’s best last weekend in France Jack will take part in the first round and use the extra track time to develop the engine and chassis as he and the team look to build on there positive start to the season.
“After the meeting in France we realised where we were weak and needed to improve. We can now work on these aspects and hopefully develop the package further for the next big race. This weekend gives us the ideal chance to do that as we will be up against some of our main competition from the WSK and European championships this will enable us to see if we have made any progress. After the strong start to the season it is Important that we keep pushing and climb into the top 3 as quickly as possible so that we can mount as serious championship fight. For sure we need to aim for the win this weekend and if that is not possible at least be on the podium.”
18th February 2008 - Hawksworth starts 2008 with race win.
Jack Hawksworth got his 2008 season off to a winning start at Shenington this weekend after seeing off some of Britain best drivers as he dominated the meeting.
Hawksworth won the first heat followed by a crash in the second heat. Starting 12th on the grid for the final he quickly made his way through the pack to eventually win by 1.5 seconds taking the flag ahead of Sam Moore and James Mudd.
"The kart was superb all weekend and it just shows what hard work can achieve. After 4th at the Winter Cup in Germany it was great to come back to the UK and win. The Gillard/TM package was great all weekend but I expect to make some big steps forward before the first round of the WSK Championship. So far it is all going to plan and we are learning more about the package every day. Next on the agenda is the Winter Cup in Germany on March 2nd and I can only have one aim for this event and that is to win and be the fastest."
After the Winter Cup Jack's next outing is most likely to be testing at either Angerville or Mariembourg.
A full report for the Shenington Race Meeting to follow.
24th January 2008 - Hawksworth to test in Genk
Jack will get his 2008 campaign started this Friday when he will begin testing at the Genk circuit in Belgium. Jack has complete four days in the kart since Christmas at Whilton Mill, GYG and Hooton Park but this will be his first real test of 2008.
“I've had a quite winter period up to now so I can't wait to get back on the circuit and start learning about the new tires and grip levels. It's a different game altogether in Europe to the United Kingdom and the driving style and set-up of the kart are so different. It is important that we prepare well for the challenges ahead.”
9th January 2008 - Hawksworth ready to hit the track.
After a short winter break since his 4th place at the German Winter Cup Jack says he’s now eager to get back on the circuit and begin pre season testing in the build up to the first round of the WSK Championship in April.
Both the WSK Championship and European Championship kick off in April and the PDB Racing driver is looking forward to getting back in his Gillard KZ2 kart in the next week.
“I'm looking forward to getting back out on the track. I’ve had a decent break over winter and I now feel refreshed and ready to go again. I have spent a 3 or 4 days over the last few weeks helping a Mini Max driver called Andy King and watching him go round has given me a real kick to get back out there.
I'm really looking forward to what should be an exciting season and a great opportunity for me!”
11th December 2007 - Hawksworth stars in Germany.
The 2007 ICC UK pace setter had is first taste of racing some of Europe's finest drivers at the German Winter Cup in the KZ2 class last weekend.
It was a big ask for the 16 year old to produce any kind of result in the company of drivers like Bas Lammers and Rick Dreezen but Jack showed his speed and race craft and took the fight to some of the Worlds best drivers.
The Winter Cup took place at Kerpen the same circuit Michael Schumacher's story began.
Jack was the surprise of the race and was the quickest in morning practice before qualifying 2nd in the rain.
The track dried up and Jack demonstrated why he will be a contender for European honours in 2008 by taking a fantastic 4th place overall.
“It was a great event and it was great to race against some of Europe’s top drivers and I learnt a lot from the experience. The result was excellent and it has a set a good foundation for the 2008 season where I will race with the PDB Racing team in the European Championship and WSK Championship. I will work hard on my fitness over the winter and continue to build the relationship with PDB and Gillard. I am looking forward to a successful 2008 season and a lot of good racing. Thanks to everyone who has supported me this year and keep checking my website for regular news updates.”

27th November 2007 - Jack tests in Holland and Belgium with PDB Racing.
Jack has recently completed a weekend testing with PDB Racing in the KZ2 category.
The first day was spent at the Genk circuit in dry conditions this meant that it was a great day for trying new things on the chassis setup.
The next day was spent at a track near Rotterdam in the Netherlands, unfortunately the weather wasn't going to be dry on this day and it continued to rain all day. Jack struggled in the morning with a hard compound tyre but once the tyres were changed half way through the day Jack managed to find a groove and set some quick times.
“I enjoyed the weekend it was good to get to know the team and drive on the sticky tyres abroad. It also gave me a rough insight in to what the competition will be like in the European championships next year. I think the Gillard chassis is good enough to win. It won’t be easy but with some winter testing I don’t see any reason why I won’t be fighting for victory’s in the championship next year.
My next race is the second round of the KF1 Winter Series at Shenington. We finished 6th in the first round after being plagued with engine issues but I think we will have a trouble free weekend which should allow me to fight for the win.”
31st October 2007 - Hawksworth and Co complete season comeback with gritty performance at Fulbeck
7 Months ago Jack Hawksworth lied 43rd in the ICC UK championship after the opening round with 0 points and a mountain to climb. Now he has just finished off his 2007 ICC UK championship by finishing runner up in the championship standings to wrap up a stunning fight back. The 16 year old over came a troubled last round to claim the Vice champion spot after charging up the grid from 10th to 4th by the end.
“It has been a rollercoaster ride! The season started off so badly and to have come back to 2nd place feels great. I would like to thank Tim Gillard for producing an awesome chassis, Andy Fairless Racing for their superb engines, my Dad for mechanicing and supporting me and thanks to Ian Thompson who also helped out at a few of the latter rounds. Hopefully with the experience I’ve gained this year I will be able to go 1 better next year.”

10th October 2007 - Jack's weekly newsletter now available
KF1 and ICC star Jack Hawksworth has decided to bring out a weekly newsletter to keep everyone who is supporting him and the big names in Motorsport updated on his current racing activity’s.
With the 2007 season drawing to a close Jack is gearing up for his biggest year yet as he will compete in the KF1 British Championship, ICC UK Championship, KZ2 European Championship and KZ2 WSK Championship.
“I believe it is as important to keep pushing hard to publicise myself off the circuit, as it is to push my hardest on the circuit. In modern Motorsport PR is essential to attract sponsors and go racing so I’m hoping this will help on this side of things. I have had a lot of bad luck and misfortune this year but I’m still lying 2nd in the ICC British championship on dropped rounds. I think this says a lot about my character when you consider that we didn’t finish any races at the first round at Shenington! This was always going to be a learning year as I have been racing some drivers who are 5 – 10 years older than me. I now have a full year of ICC experience behind me and have learnt a lot off some of the UK’s best drivers. I intend to put this into good use next year and claim a few titles. Along with my effort on the track I will strive to improve my website and PR work along with Russell Atkins from Crash net”
Jack will next be in action at the P.F.I circuit testing KF1 on the 12th and 13th of October. Jack will next be in ICC action on the 27th of October at Fulbeck for the final round of the British championship. The following weekend he will kick off his KF1 Winter series campaign at P.F.I.
If you want to subscribe to Jack’s newsletter drop him an email at hawksworth4@hotmail.com with your address.
1st August 2007 - Hawksworth to contest Super Libre Kart Masters and Rotax Max British open championship
2006 Junior Max European champion and current leader of the 2007 Super ICC British championship Jack Hawksworth has announced that he will compete in the Rotax Max British Open championship on August 10/11/12 and the Super Libre Kart Masters on August 15/16/17. The 16 year old will be competing in round’s 6 and 7 of the Super ICC British Championship in Belgium this weekend but plans to swap his Gillard/TM Machine for a Gillard Rotax Max kart prepared by Protrain Racing the team that Jack won the 2006 Junior Max European title with. Jack will run under the Protrain Racing Banner throughout the 0 plate weekend and hope that his return to Rotax Max racing will bring him even more 2007 success. Jack is not planning a full time move back into Rotax Max racing. The following weekend Jack will change classes again as he bids to challenge for the 2007 Super Libre Grand Prix title. Jack will take part in this event as part of the Wright Kart Racing team run by Simon Wright.
“I'm really looking forward to taking part in the 2007 Rotax Max British Open championship at Whilton Mill. It will be great to work with the guys from Protrain again and hopefully we will be able to add another title on top of our 2006 success together. It will be a hard event as I have never driven a Senior Max kart before but I’m sure that I will be able to adapt with plenty of testing available. I’m confident with Protrain racing’s technical expertise and my 2007 Super ICC experience we will be able to mount a serious challenge for the title. Looking further forward towards the Super Libre event I’m really looking forward to the challenge of racing some of the worlds best direct drive kart racers. It will also be interesting to race a lot of drivers who I raced last year. I’m sure that Simon Wright will be able to do a good job with my engines and hopefully I will be able to back this up with some good technical feedback and a good result. I have no previous experience with this class but hopefully I will be able to adapt throughout Friday practice and by Sunday mount a strong challenge for the win. After racing in the ICC class this year where the racing is close, frantic and tough I am hoping I will be able to use this experience to my advantage.”
It's certainly going to be a challenging few weeks for the British ace driving 2 different classes in 2 different weeks but for now he is focused on extending his championship lead in the Super ICC class at Genk in Belgium.
24th July 2007 - New photo gallery added from Rissington 2007
Just trying to keep my web site upto date and added a new photo gallery today from the Super 4 British ICC Championship at Rissington in May this year.

5th June 2007 - Hawksworth – “Larkhall and Dunkeswell crucial in championship outcomes”
Britains Jack Hawksworth believes that the next 2 races in the Super ICC and ICC British championships will make or break his season. The 16 year old has started to hit top form as the season enters its middle phase of the championship. It couldn't have come sooner as a troubled start to the season had left Jack struggling for points.
Jack currently lies 5th in the Super ICC championship despite the 3rd round at Shenington being cancelled after Jack had dominated the first two heats. 30 Points behind the championship leader Jack is in no mood to panic and believes the championship is well in grasp. “There is a long way to go yet but I know I have the best kit out there and feel better than ever. I see no reason why I cant win the next few races.”
After a dismal first round of the ICC British championship when Jack was fired off on 3 occasions and scored 0 points Jack is lying near the foot of the championship table with dropped scores not being taken into account. But a strong showing at Rissington where Jack stuck it on the front row of the grid has pushed Jack into the top 5 with dropped scores taken into account and with 4 rounds left who'd bet against him taking both titles? He certainly believes he will.
25th February 2007 - Larkhall Test day Report
A week after racing at Shenington Hawksworth was back into testing at the challenging and technical circuit of Larkhall.
Jack racked up over 100 laps of the circuit. The day started off in wet conditions and gradually dried up until at the end of the laps Jack was using slick tyres but with only one dry line and damp patches it was had to gather data.
Despite this Jack carried out tests on the new Stack data logging equipment before concentrating on chassis setup. Despite the damp conditions Jack was setting extremely competitive times and the chassis looked very well balanced and the Maxter motor sounded very crisp.
Despite the conditions a lot of data was gathered and Jack is confident that the package is up to the job when the Stars of Tomorrow circus arrives at Larkhall for the 3rd round of the British champs in July.
1st February 2007 - Winter Testing the story so far…
In under two months Jack Hawksworth will make his British Super ICC debut and in under 3 months the young British star will head out to Italy to compete in his first European ICC Championship event.
It may have been 3 months since Jack was last seen on the European stage driving in his final Junior Max outing at the Rotax Max World Finals in Portugal but it has been a busy winter for Hawksworth. A relentless testing program and vigorous fitness regime has made up Jacks winter in preparation for his biggest challenge yet.
Jack has spent the last few months testing with the CRG chassis and Maxter engines as well as competing in 2 race meetings. Testing has gone very well so far with Jack covering laps at GYG, Three Sisters Race Circuit, Rowrah, Shenington and Langbar.
Jack has consistently been fast and has praised the CRG chassis and Maxter engine claiming it to show more promise than any other package he has been on.
“I’m really starting to get used to the new equipment and everything seems to be falling into place and I can see something very special starting to come together. This overall package has the potential to do great things this year. Everyone involved has put an amazing amount of effort in over the past few months and I cant see any of our rivals having put as much time into this as us. Last year was a good year for me this year has the potential to be a superb year for me and the best is yet to come.”

7th January 2007 - Hawksworth and CRG…… Here we come!
British ace Jack Hawksworth got his first taste of the new 2007 CRG chassis and Maxter engine this weekend at the Three sisters race circuit. Jack worked with HRS Motorsport throughout the weekend as they experimented with the equipment that Jack will be racing on in this years 2007 British and European Super ICC and ICC championships with the Danilo Rossi Racing Team. Jack was very confident about the kit and stated that he believed he had the equipment to launch a serious assault on the British and European championships. This is what he had to say…
“After testing the new equipment I was very impressed with the overall package and I believe there is a lot of potential. I was very impressed with the brakes on the CRG, which I have to say were unbelievable and the out the box Maxter engine seemed very promising. I was also impressed with the way the team worked and thought everyone involved did a great job. I think the times we were posting were definatley very promising. The attitude of everybody involved is the same, we are here to mount a serious assault on both championships and although we know there is still some work to be done in testing we will be out to win every race and wont settle for anything else. The 2007 CRG chassis and Maxter engine is something special and I will be out to use this to my advantage and show everybody what I am really capable of."

27th December 2006 - A big thankyou to Protrain Racing
After making the decision to move into the Super ICC class for 2007 the Junior Max European champion Jack Hawksworth has left the Protrain Racing team due to his decision to move into Super ICC. Jack would like to thank Protrain for all there support during 2006 and says that non-of his success would have been possible with out them.
“ I have had a great year with Protrain and have gained some great experience from such a knowledgeable team. Without their help my 2006 success wouldn’t have been possible and they were a key driving force behind my success. I have had some great times with the team and would like to wish them all the best in the future in which I am sure they will repeat there successes. They have played a key part im my career so far and I have learnt things from Gary Chapman (Protrain Racing boss) that I will use all the way through my career wherever that may lead to, thankyou.

23rd Nov 2006 - Hawksworth eyes assault on 2007 ICC European Champs
British ace Jack Hawksworth has finally finished his junior career after a successful campaign which ended with 2nd in the 2006 Rotax Max World Finals and a European title only two months earlier. Jack has made the decision to race in the Super ICC and ICC classes in 2007 and has his mind set on two things, to learn quickly and to win. Jack has accepted that moving into the 6 speed gearbox class is going to be a big learning curve but stays adamant that with the right preparation and support he could well shock some of his future rivals and team bosses with some great results.
This is what Jack had, to say, “Its going to be hard to get used to the new driving style and the set-up of the chassis and engines but it certainly wont be impossible. I have the confidence in myself to be able to get it together before the start of the season, which begins in March. Many will say 2007 is going to be a learning year for me and my chances of winning anything will be over before we have even turned a corner. But I remain confident that with the right preparation, the right team and if I keep working on my physical fitness at the gym then I can definatley be in the reckoning when the flag drops. I will go into 2007 with hopes of finishing 1st in every race and championship I’m in. I’m there to win and ill try to do everything I can to make sure it happens.”
Although many might bet against Jack in 2007, nobody would have given him a chance of being as successful as he has been 2 years ago so once again he will go into the season as an underdog but will certainly be out to make his mark.
Jack is still undecided on which chassis and team he will run on and with in 2007 but as soon as it is finalised it will be posted on this website.
If you would like to help and support Jack in 2007 then feel free to contact him on 01535 273191 or email: Jack Hawksworth
24th Oct 2006 - Hawksworth to race ICC in 2007
After a stunning Junior career Jack has decided to take the decision to race in the Super ICC and ICC classes in 2007. Both classes are 125cc and have a 6 speed gearbox, well capable of speeds up to 130mph on long circuits. Jack his hoping to contest the 2007 BRDC Stars of tomorrow series in Super ICC and the 2007 FIA/CIK European Championship for ICC. The class has a reputation for being the most demanding class in karting and is ultra competitive and very physical. Jack has already started to up his fitness training in preparation for the 2007 season and will begin a testing program in the class as soon as he has returned from the Junior Max World Finals. Jack will have his first taste of the class this weekend at Three Sisters where he will have his first drive in an ICC courtesy of Neil Walker of Walker Racing and Michael Groves.
4th Sept 2006 - Big Month for Hawksworth
With the season beginning to draw to a close Jack now has 3 remaining big
dates on his calendar left. In 2 weeks time Jack will be at Three Sisters
Race Circuit near Wigan. Where he will take on the best in the country in
the penultimate round of the British Championship as he attempts to shorten
the 10-point advantage that championship leader Mitchell Bayer-Goldman has
over him in the British Championship with dropped rounds taken in to account.
Then it will be over seas to Genk in Belgium for the final round of the Rotax Mojo European
Championship in which Jack looks to defend his 9 point’s advantage over his nearest
rival Niek Vos with dropped rounds taken into account and clinch the championship.
Then it will be back to the UK where he will battle it out in the final round of
the British Championship at Buckmore Park where he will hope to take the fight for
the title right to the wire. Then after all of that, providing Jack finishes in the
top 3 of the Europeans, Jack will venture to Portugal in November where he will hope
to wrap up the season with a bang. As he takes on the best drivers from around the
world in the Rotax Max World Finals.
4th July 2006 - The 2006 season so far
The first six months of the 2006 season has certainly been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs for
Jack. Click here for a review of the season so far.
24th May 2006 - Disappointment in Garda
Britains Jack Hawksworth's chances of winning the 2nd round of the Rotax Max
Europeans were dashed after an incident on the warm up lap involving the
Austrian driver Daniel Shellnegger ruled Jack out of contention. Jack had
already won the Pre- final by just under 2 seconds and was confident going
into the final but as the karts swept round on the warm up lap the Austrian
who is known for his erratic driving style, missed his braking point and
drove over Jacks exhaust ruling him out of contention before the race had started.
"I?m obviously very disappointed with what happened in the final as we had
looked strong all weekend and were definitely in contention for the win. I?m
still shocked that a driver who drives and races as much as him can make
such a simple error and spoil his own chances as well as others. On the
other hand the chassis was great and the engines were great and I would like
to thank the Protrain Racing team and Steve Ogden for helping me with the
kart set-up and supplying some brilliant engines."
23rd April 2006 - Podium at Super 1
The cancellation of Super 1 at Clay in March was a real bonus for me as I
was already racing in Europe and couldn't make the first round of Super 1.
Last weekends meeting in Lydd was effectively the first round and to come
out with a second overall was an excellent result.
This means I am currently
lying 3rd in both the British and European championships and looking forward
to the first round of Stars.
18th April 2006 - Jack claims 3rd at 'O' Plate
At last weekends British Open Championship Jack claimed 3rd place in
what was one of the most exciting races so far this
season with the battle for the win going right down to the wire!
If this is anything to go by the opening round of the
British Super 1 Championship next weekend at the Lydd International
Raceway should be extremely close, as should the rest of the season.
